Preparing for Evolution

This absurd pandemic situation has widely affected both students and teachers all over the world. It has accelerated the process of re-imagining a much more evolved system of delivering education, while the traditional means are losing relevance. As a result, there has been a remarkable rise in e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely on digital platforms. But this change brings along a whole new set of principles that will guide us in this process and transition. The following understanding builds the fundamental basis of the contemporary education system we're steadily becoming a part of.
What do you require?
● Laptop or Desktop: The very definition of e-learning is learning or teaching with the
help of an electronic device. Laptops and Desktops are the most preferred devices when
compared to mobiles or tablets. The former has a larger screen that allows both the
student and teacher to see each other more clearly.
● Stable Internet: Since e-learning is an online mode of study, having a reliable internet
source is the only way you can connect digitally with students. A wired internet cable or
a dongle is preferably the best because it avoids any weak internet interruption.
● Headset & Microphone: If possible, both teachers and students must use a headset. It
not only helps both to focus but also trains the mind to associate quickly. For this, ensure
that you purchase a headset that eliminates background noise and comes with a
microphone. Clearer audio helps in giving and receiving better feedback and having a
positive interaction.
● Web Camera: A high-quality webcam is essential for conducting online classes.
Students tend to lose attention in class if they are not able to see the teacher correctly. If
the teachers, the gestures, and other aids are not visible, concentration will stay out of the
class.
● Whiteboard: Physical or digital, the whiteboard will always serve its purpose of helping
students visualize the concepts taught. Even if not for theories, how can you imagine
teaching math without a visual?
These are primary concerns and are essential for the teachers who're undergoing the transition or don't know where to start. The world is changing, and so are its ways. Adapting to these changes is the only way out. We must be a part of the change and strategize our next step or perhaps the first one.
